Happy Valentines Day!!

Hanauma Bay

A special one – as we are having a very romantic, fabulous time on vacation. It is really nice to be away from the routine of home, warm & just do what ever we feel like doing!

We celebrated Valentines Day early as Colleen joins us today.

  • Spent the morning snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, a collapsed flooded crater which is now teeming with tropical fish, now a State preserve.
  • Continued the drive over to the Windward coast of Oahu to the Kailua area (where President Obama & family spent Christmas). Had a fantastic lunch at Buzz’s Steakhouse & walked over to the beach where we got more sun & watched the sights. The coast line is absolutely beautiful here.

  • Had the best macadamia/coconut  ice cream at Dave’s ice cream stand on highway 72. People Magazine had voted this flavor as one of the best  in America.
  • Got my Valentines Day gift!! Best ever! Suspense killing you? Well, I spotted a sign from the road -” The Hawaii  Ukulele & Nut Store”. Well, Dave had been craving some macadamia nuts to munch on so when I read the sign outloud he made a tire squealing turn into the parking lot.  As Dave was ambling down the nut isle I was playing with the Ukulele’s. I have been a bit obsessed with them this trip as I used to play when I was younger. There are Ukuleles everywhere in Hawaii & apparently I have been eying them  & reminiscing about my “concert days”, so Dave says Happy Valentine’s Day – pick one out! YEAH! I did try his patience though as he told me I have bought cars faster than my new Ukulele. So I have been strumming & picking away – poorly – but I am sure it will come back in time. Dave has been having fun too – learning the cords & fiddling away.

Hope you all have a good day.

Let me know if anything interesting happens……..

on your Valentine’s day.
